4 Simple Ways To Keep Motivated When Working From Home

Wake Up to an Alarm

Taking your time to drag yourself out of bed each morning will set the precedent for the day, by waking up to an early alarm you will feel more efficient and accomplished. By forcing yourself into a schedule you’ll feel motivated to start your day, just like you would when heading into an office.

Dress for Success

More often than not, I hear the comment, ‘It must be nice to stay in your pyjamas all day’, this couldn’t be further from the truth. I always dress for the day so I feel fresh and ready to walk out the door at a moments notice. Even when I know I don’t need to go anywhere that day, I always ensure I get dressed and put make up on, it makes me feel like I am ready to tackle the day. If I was to sit around in my pyjamas all day with messy hair I feel like my work would reflect how I look: miskept.

Make a schedule for the week

Is there ever a better feeling than crossing something off a list? I love making lists and looking at what I need to do for the day, even if I don’t tick everything off my list for the week I still feel like my mind is a little more at ease knowing everything is down on paper and I can come back to it later. If I’m ever feeling like I’ve hit a dead end, I take a moment to think where I want to be in 5 years time, what I want my life to look like. I then write down what I need to do to make that a reality and take a step out to get a coffee or go for a walk to take my mind off it for a while.

A diary or calendar is a great way to keep track of what you need to accomplish, having monthly goals will help you keep focused and meet your deadlines.

Take a Break and Go outside

Building my business, Mister Woof has lots of perks, taking my dog Harper for a walk is always a positive and networking experience for me. I always have her in a Mister Woof lead, collar and jumper in the cooler months. I love breaking up my day with a walk down to a coffee shop and am always stopped along the way by other dog owners or coffee lovers who want to say hello to Harper. Needless to say, Harper jumps at the opportunity for more attention and an extra pat or two.
